Cookery for Schools

Cooking in Schools

Can Cook currently works with schools across Merseyside and the North-West to create positive attitudes to food and cookery, focusing on practical cookery skills. We want to inspire and enthuse pupils to enjoy cookery and healthier methods of preparing and eating food and to emphasise the importance of cookery in schools.

All of our cookery for schools programmes are led and designed by Chef’s  with the purpose of improving pupils practical cookery skills – to support them when both cooking in school and in their own homes.

Secondary School Cookery in Schools programmes and resources include:

  • Can Cook Studio day courses – led by Chefs in our 20 place, fully equipped Cookery School.
  • Pop-Up Studio for Schools. Our Chefs run a programme of cookery courses training up to 50 pupils a day.
  • School Sessions Cookery Competition for years 10 – Sixth Form: running from October to April every year.
  • Courses for teachers based on teaching cookery techniques and methods.
  • An interactive learning resource with DVD , lesson plans and worksheets focusing on world foods, practical cooking, food enterprise and hospitality and health, safety and hygiene to support current courses in schools. Click below for an Information Sheet on the resource:

Teaching Everyone to Cook
