We know that it is important for children to have a varied diet and that this can be hard to integrate into the lives of children with busy parents or for those living on a budget. Our nursery catering menus have been developed by in house chefs and our dietician, our food is produced to ensure that all meals meet nutritional recommendations for under 5s. please see Children’s Food Trust for more information. Our menus run on a 3 week rotation, and have been designed to not only provide children with the nutrients they need, but to introduce them to new flavours and textures and familiarise them with using cutlery properly. Introducing a varied diet at a young age supports children to make balanced choices about their food in later life.
Our menus are based on healthy portions of all the main food groups:
- Bread, other cereals and potatoes
- Fruit and vegetables
- Milk and dairy foods, and
- Meat, fish and alternatives (such as eggs, pulses – peas, beans and lentils).
